It was believed that batik making skills have developed in the country, especially in Kelantan and Terengganu since the 1990s. During the early days, batik was worn by women and men as sarongs and everyday garments. Today, batik has been transformed into an art from which lead the way in injecting excitement to development of local textiles. The fabric is produced through stamping, wax drawn designs or silkscreen techniques, producing a variety of patterns and uses. The combination of traditional and contemporary decorative elements, with colours that follow the latest trends complete batik's function as amulti-purpose fabric. This development made it clear that Malaysian Batik is gaining the acceptance of local as well as overseas lovers of line textiles.
