Penggunaan seramik sebagai peralatan harian bermula sejak Zaman Batu Baru atau Zaman Neolitik lagi. Tanah liat diuli dan ditempa dengan pelbagai bentuk mengikut kehendak dan keperluan. Selain untuk memenuhi keperluan harian, seramik rekaan kontemporari menjadi item dekorasi dan juga sesuai sebagai hadiah cenderamata yang eksklusif. Kreativiti pereka dalam meneroka dimensi baru bagi kraf seramik telah membawa era baru pada penghasilan produk seramik tempatan. Penemuan teknik binaan acuan telah memberi sumbangan yang besar kepada perkembangan industri seramik. Dengan cara ini pembuat-pembuat seramik mampu menghasilkan produk yang lebih seimbang, kemas, dan mempunyai ukuran saiz yang sama. Selain itu, dapat mempercepatkan proses untuk menghasilkan produk seramik.

Designer's creativity in exploring new dimensions of ceramic craft has brought a new era in local ceramic production. The discovery of using mold has contributed greatly to the development of the ceramic industry. In addition to increasing the production process, ceramic makers are now able to produce more consistent, high quality and similar size products.
